Project Details

  • Led discovery with executives, plan administrators, and IT staff to understand how members, service representatives, and the public actually used the platform and where it was failing them.
  • Delivered a technical audit that gave leadership a candid picture of the risks they were carrying, from a single point of failure hosting every environment to security and compliance gaps and a manual, after-hours release process.
  • Designed a cloud-native AWS target architecture that separated the public site, member portal, and service portal into independently scalable services, chosen to fit the existing team's skills rather than force a wholesale retraining.
  • Built healthcare compliance into the design from the start, including strong authentication, encryption, long-term audit retention, and disaster recovery across regions, so the platform could meet federal oversight requirements.
  • Coordinated with a partner already migrating the existing systems to AWS so the modernization built on that foundation instead of competing with it, allowing the new platform to be built and proven alongside the old one before cutover.
  • Produced a five-phase roadmap with cost estimates that sequenced the work against a federal deadline for online claims, giving the client a defensible plan to take to its board.
  • Handed the vision, deliverables, and phase plan to the incoming architecture team so the work could continue without loss of momentum.
